Deductibles and Reimbursement Explained
A common structure: you pay a deductible, then 70-90% of eligible costs are reimbursed, possibly with an annual cap. Lower deductibles and higher reimbursement cost more in premium; choose based on the out-of-pocket you can handle.
Three numbers
Deductible: what you pay first each year.
Reimbursement: the share of remaining eligible costs.
Annual/lifetime cap: the maximum paid out.
Direct payment
Some insurers/vets pay directly, but the deductible still applies.
Reimbursement plans require upfront payment; keep invoices and records.
